About Janet

Bailey has helped thousands of people become more effective at work
and in their personal lives. Janet’s seminars throughout the country
earn top ratings from clients, who praise her energy, humor,
and immediately useful content. Her columns and articles on health,
communication, and career success appear regularly in Redbook,
Bottom Line/Personal and other leading publications. As
a corporate communicator, Janet has written marketing collateral for
a variety of companies and nonprofits. Her entertaining history of
San Francisco,
The Great San Francisco Trivia & Fact Book,
has been an Amazon top-25 bestseller.
A West Coast native, Janet gained early
experience in both writing and entrepreneurship at the age of
eight, when she published a weekly neighborhood newspaper and
sold it door-to-door for a nickel a copy. With a few more years
and a degree in journalism and psychology from Stanford
University under her belt, she moved to Manhattan. She worked on
staff at national magazines, a major performing arts organization,
and a communications consulting firm before starting her speaking
and writing business—Janet Bailey Communications—and returning to
her California roots. For many years, she has researched
keys to professional and personal effectiveness, interviewing
thought leaders such as Bill Moyers, Warren Bennis, Dr. Deepak Chopra, Dr. Herbert
Benson, Joan Borysenko, Dr. Christiane Northrup, and Jon Kabat-Zinn. She shares
her accessible and practical solutions to common career and personal
challenges in her articles, seminars, and keynotes.
Janet is a member of the National Speakers
Association, the American Society for Training and Development
(Golden Gate Chapter), and the American Society of Journalists and
Authors.
